WCDP is working with two communities in Uganda to install solar panels on the local schools that will allow children to continue their studies into the evening hours. It will also make the school buildings available for other events, including evening classes for the adults of the community.
Solar Schools is part of a larger project to establish Living Villages in Uganda as part of a pilot program WCDP is working on.
The two communities WCDP is currently working with are Buhoma (school pictured above) and Kasolwe, which is currently building their community school, with financial assistance from WCDP. The Buhoma community is also interested in working with WCDP to pilot the Living Village concept.
UPDATE: WCDP has sent funding for the solar installation in Buhoma - installed March 2017. And we have added to the funding for building the school in Kasolwe. As a result, they will have their own classroom for the first time this year.
